Well, I guess it's time to kick off the new year with some over-the-top mob-clearing action courtesy of ancient Chinese historical(?) warriors. (By the way, Ma Chao here is one of several newcomers introduced for this title, hence the reason why I decided to play this game's Musou Mode as him.)

Sure, there was a 'Dynasty Warriors' title before this (for the original PlayStation, no less), but this second 'Dynasty Warriors' title would not only be the first one to use the name 'Shin Sangoku Musou' (a name which this video game franchise would use ever since), but also be the pioneer of what is now known as the "MUSOU" genre of one-versus-thousand hack and slash games which take place in real-time battlefields (at least as far as my innate video game knowledge is concerned).

And yes, this particular version of 'Dynasty Warriors 2' actually has Japanese voices despite the fact that it's in English. (The original English version of this game had no language options whatsoever, instead having English audio by default.)
