Note: This playthrough uses a relatively recently discovered patch, which disables the auto lock-on system that normally locks the player onto the first enemy they hit with a normal attack, making it impossible to turn afterwards. (see here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHUzuyzu1k4)

The reason for using the Chinese version is simply to show off the dub.
For weapon stats, the main ones that actually matter if I get them are Musou Charge 無雙增加量
and Attack Power 攻擊力
----------------

The save screen has three slots, so I'll switch factions every three characters.

First from Wei is Zhang He. He has a nice C3 stun attack which is quite wide and also moves him forward.
His unique weapon is one of the best ones, with Musou Charge/Attack/Range, as well as death element on C6, which is now slightly aimable on the second hit thanks to not having auto lock-on. On top of all that, he can get it right in the first stage. I only switch to the unique weapon after the fourth battle however.
The C4 Psycho Crusher is cool but unfortunately isn't really worth using much thanks to low damage, although it does have one good use in Mt. Ding Jun.
Zhang He's Musou attack is a bit tricky when you're not used to it as he zigzags by himself but with some practice it is possible to chain the hits properly even on the same enemy. A useful property is that the enemies hit by it immediately go into a sliding state, which means playable officers cannot retaliate by using their Musou attack. You can also smoothly combo from C6 right into Musou.
The True Musou knocks enemies into the air, which makes the aiming a bit worse, but at least the finisher attack is good for getting away from the enemies.

The Battle at Guan Du is defending the castle walls and then finding the supply depot and burning it down. Zhang He's unique weapon requirements are to burn the depot while Yan Liang and Wen Chou are both still alive.
The first few officers take a while to beat, but once you get a few pickups it isn't so bad. After all, the entire stage is generic officers except for Yuan Shao at the end, and Liu Bei and Zhang Fei who retreat after the cutscene where they meet Guan Yu, so if you want their drops, you should take care of them first.
I do get the unique weapon here but I don't use it until Jie Ting.

For Chang Ban, Zhang He starts at the western bridge, which lets you easily cut off Liu Bei, although due to the nature of the challenge, you do want to defeat the others to get their stat drops. The navy reinforcements that spawn later are all under Liu Qi, so Guan Yu and Guan Ping will retreat if you defeat him first.

At Chi Bi, if you want to stop the fire attack, you either have to defeat Huang Gai or Zhou Yu, or the officer guarding the gate in the south, to the left of Zhou Yu's initial position.
After that you're far south enough to close the other gates there, and then go back up to defend the sides.
There is also a rare item here, which is obtained by defeating Zhou Yu while the fire attack hasn't happened.

For Mt. Ding Jun, both the slope and the side path have plenty of archers to watch out for, as well as the slope lowering your movement speed when going uphill. Thankfully, attacking uphill still moves you the same amount as always. You can use Zhang He's C4 to rocket yourself up the slope as well.
Here I got a solid third weapon with Attack +15, and at that point I decided I might as well use the unique one.

At Jie Ting, since I'm playing Zhang He, I did the intended sequence for him by going for the summit head on. Burning the supplies seems to be triggered by leading allied soldiers inside, and at that point you can run in and quickly get rid of the gate captain next to Zhuge Liang.

Siege of He Fei Castle - well, "siege" but the enemy starts way inside the castle - is stacked against your side heavily, although Zhang He is strong enough that you don't really feel it much. All the reinforcements manage is to increase the enemy's morale once they're beaten.
Rare item here spawns on the boat after you defeat all of Sun Quan's bodyguards.

Wu Zhang Plains for Wei isn't that bad. Your side gets plenty of reinforcements, fighting against multiple officers is avoidable, and there aren't as many archers as on the Shu version either.
There's a rare item here that spawns after enough of your side gets defeated, but I completely forgot about that.

At this point:
4/32 Characters Done
5/12 Rare Items Obtained
9/13 Regular Items are at or above 75% of their maximum value
