Note: This playthrough uses a relatively recently discovered patch, which disables the auto lock-on system that normally locks the player onto the first enemy they hit with a normal attack, making it impossible to turn afterwards. (see here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHUzuyzu1k4)

Since I'm playing on an emulator, I put the game to double speed whenever there's a section without enemies to speed things up. There's a Fast Forward logo in the upper right corner whenever this happens.

The reason for using the Chinese version is simply to show off the dub since I haven't seen much footage of it around. For that reason I play with event cutscenes on and don't skip them.
For weapon stats, the main ones that actually matter if I get them are Musou Charge 無雙增加量
and Attack Power 攻擊力
----------------

Sun Quan has quite a rough start. His first stage is The Battle at Chi Bi, and on top of that he starts off with 4000 Rank Points which I'm pretty sure increases the difficulty somewhat by making the enemy tougher to fight. At the very least it sure felt like it.
Sun Quan also cannot use his unique weapon during the challenge as he only gets it in the last stage, so he has to rely on the drops he gets all the way through.

Sun Quan's Musou is quite strong, although it has the tendency to push enemies too far away from him for the last strike to hit. Also, his True Musou finishing sequence is broken, with the second and third strikes counting as one attack, so only one of them can actually hit the enemy, which can make the last hit miss as well and the enemies don't get knocked away from him.

For Chi Bi, I went for Xiahou Dun and Zhang He's group for the two weapon drops, and then I winged it over to Cao Cao, trying to look for a way to defeat him, since fighting off the entire army is quite hopeless with no items equipped and only a basic weapon. Especially the slow rate of Musou Charge is quite hampering as you cannot fully rely on Musou Attacks to get you out of hairy situations when it takes over half of your health to get it recharged from taking damage. The plan worked out so I just continued with the playthrough.

Thankfully the next stage is one of the easy fillers, the Raid on the Rogue Fortress, with only generic officers to fight, and having a second weapon makes it simple to double the drops of the officers. The stage has three weapon crates for a good chance to get a third weapon as well.

He Fei has tons of archers/crossbowmen, along with big officer pileups in the northeast and southwest, so fighting next to allies is quite helpful to divert the attention a bit. Sun Quan is the commander here so the usual events won't happen, and the condition that wins the battle if Sun Quan reaches the enemy camp is disabled as well.

Yi Ling on Wu's side is pretty much just going around the map annihilating everyone. At the end Liu Bei is quite a dangerous opponent thanks to his long True Musou ending. You can lure out Zhuge Liang by standing at the fences and he'll come to you while Liu Bei stays put.

Wu's Shi Ting ("You Ting" in the English version is most likely the localizers misreading 石亭 as 右亭) has a total of six items to pick up and it's a late stage, making it great for acquiring items. The playthroughs don't use items, but I do try to pick them up as well to build a collection, to see how many I can max out by the time I'm done with all the characters.

Nanman Campaign gave me a very nice third weapon with Musou Charge +18 (the maximum possible is +20) which makes a noticeable difference for the last stage with the rate the Musou Gauge fills at.

The Siege of He Fei Castle is where Sun Quan can obtain his unique weapon, simply by defeating Zhang He and the weapon box will spawn in the courtyard. The weapon itself is pretty good - it has no element, but it has a nice Attack, Musou Charge, and Bow Defense bonus, along with a Bow Attack bonus and a Musou Gauge increase which doesn't hurt him too much thanks to the Musou Charge.
There is also a rare item here obtained by defeating Xu Chu and picking it up from the box that spawns right after north of his position.

Overall, apart from the first stage being very rough, the rest of the run didn't feel particularly hard.
I didn't expect to get two Wind Scrolls at +16 (maximum being +20) this quickly, much less in one playthrough, and in adjacent stages even.

At this point:
2/32 Characters Done
3/12 Rare Items Obtained
6/13 Regular Items are at or above 75% of their maximum value
