E23 - Flowers from Bonemeal have odd Spawning Behaviour - Lectures in Labcoats
Today I look at flowers spawned by bonemeal and what the strange behavior could mean for your flower farm. Flowers are procedurally generated based on seed and biome even when bonemeal is used, meaning only one type of flower can spawn on any given block.
It is unclear whether this is intentional or accidental at the moment - you can follow the bug report I submitted here: https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MC-37718
Here's the run-down of what I've learnt:
- Every block of grass can spawn both tall-grass and flowers
- Only one type of flower can spawn on any given block
- The flower spawning pattern doesn't vary vertically, only along the x and z
