Eating KOREAN Food in Lotte World Tower, Korea’s TALLEST BUILDING! | Seoul, South Korea
606With just one more day left in South Korea and my partner in crime, Sam, heading back home, I wanted to make the most of my remaining time in Seoul. Come along with me as I try an outstanding bibimbap at Lotte World Tower and enjoy some insane views of the city from the very top!
Lotte World Tower is the fifth-tallest building in the world and has 120 floors. It stands 1,821 feet high and has the highest glass-bottomed observation deck in the world and the highest swimming pool in the world. It also has a mall and a hotel! But before I explored the tower, I wanted to get something to eat!
I visited one of the lakes outside the building. The views were epic! The tower itself is so beautiful and unique. I couldn’t help but make several stops in the area. There were so many spots for good photos. The building itself looked like it was inspired by something out of Star Wars!
It took me around 25 minutes to walk around the lake. Then I reached the mall and the entrance to the tower. I was in the mood for a bibimbap, so I headed inside the mall. After asking for directions from the information desk, I headed up a glass elevator to the fifth floor. On the fifth floor is a food court called Seoul Seoul 3080. There are lots of Korean restaurants there.
The restaurant I chose has lots of bibimbaps and set menus that include bibimbaps and meats. The cool thing is that I was the only tourist there! I ordered one with four sides and some beef on the sides. I mixed it all up; it contained seaweed, radish, mushrooms, hot sauce, cucumbers, beef, and onions. It looked so good and was so big!
I dug in. There was so much flavor and the hot sauce was really spicy! It had burned on the bottom, which added some amazing texture and flavor. This was the best bibimbap I’d had in Korea so far! Not only was it my favorite bibimbap, it was maybe my favorite dish in Korea, period. You will love it!
There are lots different variations in Seoul Seoul 3080, so there are tons of options. I held off on finishing it so I could dive into the banchan. There was a crispy radish with a hot sauce. I loved the heat. There were some rock-hard beans and some ultra-spicy kimchi! I also loved the marinated beef, which was like the beef from a hot pot. It was so tender and juicy and had a kick of spice from some chilies!
My lunch cost me 14,000 won, or about $11.74 U.S. It was so worth the price and the quality of the food.
Next, I headed down to B1, which is where the entrance to the observation deck is. There, I saw that the tower holds several Guinness world records, including the the tallest double deck elevator, the fastest double deck elevator, and the highest glass-floor observation deck.
My ticket cost 27,000 won, or about $23 U.S. You take escalators down to an exhibition hall where they show the building materials. There was a big crowd of us in the elevator, which took only 1 minute to reach the top.
The observation deck was huge! There were big windows to show off amazing views of the Han River, the city, the mountains, helipads all over the city, Seoul Tower, and more! It was a truly epic and exhilarating experience that was more than just a simple observation deck. I even stepped onto the glass bottom and laid down on it! It put every other observation deck I’d visited to shame! It felt like I was on top of the world!
There’s also an area called Sky Terrace, which is located outside. It was cold out there! The view wasn’t that different, but I could see how huge Seoul was.
Then, I caught a quick metro ride and arrived at Gangnam, a posh neighborhood south of the river. There’s a monument there. I even did the Gangnam Style dance in front of it!
