Day 10 in South Korea continued to be a whirlwind as my buddy Sam and I headed out to enjoy some mouthwatering Korean barbecue for dinner. Join us as we eat some amazing marinated beef ribs called galbi and some delicious banchan on the side!

The restaurant we went to was recommended by Sam, who went there three years earlier with his wife, Audrey, and loved it! The fact that the restaurant is still there is a testament to how good it is, as eateries come and go quickly in Seoul if they aren’t good.

The restaurant is more upscale and the food is outstanding. The galbi comes with the bone still in it. On the side, we had two mushrooms, crabs, fish with vegetables, lots of lettuce, radish soup, sauces, a tofu and soybean paste soup, and vegetables. We grilled the galbi, which you cut into strips with scissors once it’s finished. While I waited for it to cook, I enjoyed a delicious Korean craft beer. It was a really tasty IPA!

After the galbi cooked for a while, a guy came over and helped us cut it and flip it.

I started with the soup, which also contained beef and mushrooms. The broth was really yummy and rich. I could taste lots of flavors, including beef, in the broth! The beef was fatty and tender, and the chilies and onions added some heat!

Next were greens with chilies, which were very moist and crunchy. It was like a big root and was similar to spinach. Then I moved on to the chili crab. I chose to suck everything out of the body. There was a lot of spicy meat in there. It was covered in a red paste or sauce.

I didn’t know what the next dish was, but it was definitely a fish. It was salty and crunchy because of the vegetables in it. The sauce might have been mayo. It was very nice and sweet!

Next was the radish soup. It was super cold and wasn’t really my thing.

Then I dove into the main event: the marinated beef. I dunked it into the sauce, which was so tasty. Whatever they marinated it with was like a super tasty glaze that was infused into the beef. It was sweet and also had a kick from the sauce, which was pure spice!

Next, I wrapped the beef in the lettuce with one of the pieces of garlic we didn’t burn. It’s the best thing in Korea! The beef was super tender and was like butter! I quickly flipped over the ribs that were still cooking so they wouldn’t burn and then dove into the mushroom. It was so amazing with the sauce! It’s the best sauce on the planet!

In all, our meal cost 28,000 won, or just under $24, per person, which isn’t bad when compared to American prices. My beer was 7,000 won, or about $5.78 U.S. There are also salads, sides, and desserts at the restaurant as well.

Then it was Sam’s turn to try the ribs, which were chewy and crunchy on the outside, and packed with flavor!

After our meal, we caught a taxi to Cheonggyecheon, a beautiful pedestrian area that has a stream flowing through it! After riding through the city, we arrived at Cheonggyecheon. There were two pedestrian boardwalks with the stream in the middle. There are 7 bridges that cross the area and 8 stepping stone areas that cross the stream.

It’s a beautiful place. I had never seen anything like it! It was spruced up to beautify the city. I loved how there were so many trees and plants in the area. It was like a green oasis, which made it feel like I was in the Everglades! The walls even blocked out the sounds of the surrounding city!

I found some stepping stones and crossed them. They were a little slippery. All I could hear was the stream. It was really awesome and beautiful! There’s lots of light under the bridges, where there were lots of people hanging out and even couples on dates.

I hope you liked coming with me on my galbi and Cheonggyecheon adventure in Seoul! If you did, please give this video a thumbs up, leave me a comment, and please subscribe so you never miss my latest travel/food videos!
