Echo Generation: Midnight Edition is a RPG, that has the weirdness that Mother 3 had. The graphics are in a stylish 3D Pixel Style, which i think is the biggest selling point of the Game.
The biggest downside of it, is how short it is. From the reviews i saw that the playtime is between six and seven hours.
But this might also be misleading, since the story bits and progression is faster than in other RPG.
Grinding might also not be needed, even if it's wise to get the one or other extra battle for the next level up.

The Battle system is pretty simplistic and similar to the Paper Mario style, where you have to either press the buttons in the right time to attack or defend. Skills have little Minigames to it, although it's a bit weird, that the skills of the Sister doesn't require much practice, while your skills are usually based on reaction time.
Storywise it goes into the Smalltown-Alien Mystery, but it doesn't take itself too seriously with the enemies and how the characters react. It's all a little silly.
