Tomba! is a Playstation 1 Platformer and a little experimental in the formula.
It has the usual platformer controls, but the levels also have different layers you can access through certain points and basically play in the background or foreground. Also it got Adventure elements, where you often have to collect certain items to please the NPC that wants them.

So in a little Metroidvania Styled World. the section care kind of connected and you can come back to find certain goodies that you couldn't get before.
I goofed a little, since in the How to Play section, there is a little line that tells me, that i can rewind the Game a little and bring up a overlay Menu. In my defense, the rest of the description comes with a little picture before and i thought it's just your regular move left and right stuff.
I wouldn't have used the Rewind Button, but the Overlay Button lets you stretch the Gameplay and lets you add a Background.
For the video i edited it and zoomed in a little myself, but you still got the black boarder left and right.

Original the Game is from 1997 and you can feel that at certain spots. For the most parts it certainly is fine. But respawning Enemies that are out of the View is pretty annoying if the Game doesn't run in Widescreen (i mean real not stretched). Other thing is grabbing onto handlebars, if you land ontop of them you slide left or right, but far enough so that Tomba doesn't grab onto them. So you can to plan your Fall, that you come down right next to it.
Modern Games would just snap you onto these spots.

But playing the Modern version of the Game, you could simply Rewind at such spots, to avoid the Frustration.
Overall Tomba is a good experience, even if you're like me and never played the original Game.
