The Game is a Remake of a NES Ninja Platformer (which i never played). Shadow of the Ninja is pretty hard, but with multiple tries you learn the different enemy types and their attack patterns and also where their locations are.
So even if you fail the first couple of times, you still can hit Retry, to start over at the section you died at. Each level is pretty big, but it's divided into these different sections. So it nearly feels like you play Act 1 and 2, before entering a Boss fight.
The difficulty of the Game is also, that there is no Extra Life system. In a way you have unlimited Lives, since if you lose all your health and die, you can Retry the section you died it. So it's not a full Game Over in the regular sense.

My only complaint is the controls. The character itself moves fine, but there is the ability to wall jump or wall grab, which needs an Extra Press on the Jump Button. So you're not automaticall grabbing the wall for a Wall jump.
Luckily the holding on rais or a ceiling work automaticall. But if you want to climb up, you have to press Up. If you press jump and expect your character to jump, you simply fall off. I'm more used, that the jump button always puts you up, except if i press down and jump.
