Eclipse is a level that shines to me simply because of it's atmosphere, which in my opinion is one of the hardest things to get down when creating a level, you could have the greatest effects or the most beautiful art, but if it doesn't all fit together or if a single thing looks or feels out of place it loses a lot of detail, my favorite levels are the ones that tell a story, that are more of an experience, that take you through different phases and scenes that also fit together nicely with the music, completing the package.

The fast paced electronic beat sets the tone for the level right from the beginning, rather than being a dark and depressing hellscape, it's more of a desperate nightmare, along with all of the creepy art that appears in the background, the Joker with trails of blood seeping from his eyes, the eyes looking around in a crazy manner, or the distorted cityscape that comes up towards the end.


The level is 99% monochrome, only using different opacities and shades of black and gray, with very small hints of red here and there to add a bit of contrast on the more intense parts. This level is definitely rough around the edges but that's what makes it different in my opinion, if it was too refined or perfect it would lose some of it's creepy factor and uncertainty, so for levels of this nature it works.
