In this video, Eco, released in 1987 for the Atari ST by Ocean.
What can I say about Eco? It's a life simulator. You start as a spider in a randomly generated environment and your mission is find some food, survive the predators of your current life form and find another one like yours to reproduce and evolve. When you evolve you can modify the part of your dna you want to. Beware if you evolve into a plant it's game over.
The graphics are vectorial and very simple but enough to give you the idea of what you are and what there is around you. The audio sports simple sound fx too and a nice tunechip, but there's also the option of connecting a midi keyboard to have good quality midi music. The playability is huge but it's also very hard to play (at least for me).
Here you'll find loading screens and gameplay of me trying and failing several attempts of surviving.

All footage taken from original hardware machines and upscaled to 1080P.
