In previous video's we had a look at LUA code for automated train traffic. We used 'Random IO' plus 'Single Track Protection" and we also used a different approach with blocks. Both methods worked well, yet they missed something that one quite oft wants to accomplish on a layout: allocate a certain (type of) train to a certain tracks of a station. E.g. we might want a passenger train to always enter station North only on lane 1, while cargo trains should only go to lanes 2 or 3.

With the LUA code presented in this video this is possible. Without coding yourself. All that is needed is to define your blocks, define your routes and place track sensors to monitor if a train entered a block or left a block.
