Before update 28.0.6 Adaptive Exposure and HDR were two toggle settings. If both of them were enabled the game would render semi-transparent things like the star chart clouds, the node lines, energizing dash bubble, wukong cloud, basically anything like that would be less visible. Since this phenomenon had to be actively enabled reports of this side effects were low and people could use these transparent effects to their advantage or turn them off if they didn't like it.

After update 28.0.6 Adaptive Exposure and HDR were made permanent post processing effects. This resulted in a large spike of cases where people mistakenly assumed the 'faded' and 'dark' visuals they experienced were some kind of new bug or new-render error when they simply were experiencing an old render glitch by having Effects Intensity set to 10. [DE] Steve does not know about this phenomenon as shown by a twitter reply to a person who showed an image of this.
