Egression is an open building of mystery to explore, VR escape room game. I have done many escape rooms, real life and VR. This one is the first VR escape room to actually immerse me into a really feeling escape room. The puzzles felt like real escape room puzzles, and well designed for VR. Not only are the puzzles life like, the VR physics in the game make you feel like you are actually there.
I want to clear one thing up right away. Yes this game has full locomotion and smooth turn. It actually has a wide spread of movement settings to make this game comfortable for everyone.
You start the game in the Egression Inc lobby, where you are quickly greeted by Joe. Joe is like the host of a real escape room, and will watch you play and give you comments throughout your escape room adventure. You are free to move around and explore the building, where you discover there might be more then just some escape rooms to play in, but secrets and mystery. There are two themed escape rooms to do and also some puzzles to try out before you head into an escape room. Like I said above there is also areas that are locked, I am pretty sure you can find away in.
I only played the first escape room, and loved it. The setup was nice, the puzzle felt like really world puzzles and the game physics make you feel like you are really there. Everything is in the game is interactive. Touch, explore, move things around. I completely trashed the room looking for clues, Joe came over the speaker system to remind me how hard it is to setup the room again. The puzzles are challenging and will make you think, but if you play with everything and look for clues the answers are there.
The thing that really made me love this VR escape room game was how immersive it was. From the building of mystery to explore, the real life escape room games, Joe of course, and the amazing physics in the game. I picked up a pool ball and threw it across the room and took out a chess piece. It all felt so real. Move things around feels so real. This with the amazing looking VR world, will suck you in.
If you like puzzles and escape room games this is a must have. If you like physic based VR games, you will want to try out the demo to just see how good this is. This is a must have VR experience.
Thinking of getting a Quest 2? The VR world is exciting. Get your 1st game free with a $35 store credit by clicking the link below.
