A dedicated gamer's YouTube channel celebrating gaming. The good, the bad, and the two polygon. Logical Leveling talks about everything gaming: news, upcoming games, and reviews. As well as some of the more obscure topics, like the impact of a certain game and why a game failed. If you're a lifelong fan of video games and everything about them, this is a home for you.
So join the community! Subscribe, comment, and get involved. The goal of Logical Leveling isn't just for me to talk about games (though that is fun) but to find like-minded people and have a discussion. So let me know if you disagree or why you do agree on a video. I'd love for Logical Leveling to become a home base for people who like to get into the nitty-gritty of the gaming industry. If that sounds like something you want or would enjoy, then it's up to you to make it happen!

Well, we finally did it. We finally reached Elden Ring. This is the fourth and final video in a series talking about FromSoftware's journey to Elden Ring. The man behind the creation and the lessons learned along the way. The impact of Elden Ring, not just for FromSoftware and their titles moving forward but gaming as a whole. This series was created in celebration of FromSoftware's titles, so if you're a fan of the Soulsbourne games, please don't forget to like and subscribe. Sit back and enjoy as we look at FromSoftware's latest evolution, Elden Ring.
When the Summer Game Fest trailer came out, it took the gaming world by storm, and it was clear that FromSoftware was aiming to top Dark Souls. Seeing a familiar dark age setting with heavy armor and massive shields was exciting. While Bloodbourne and Sekrio proved that FromSoftware can stray from this setting and the gameplay it implies, that familiarity was comforting. Plus, it was under a new name, so there was mystery and potential for new ideas. And, of course, the collaboration with George RR Martin was a bonus. However, the most exciting thing about that trailer, as someone who has been suffering through the Souls games for years, was the reaction to the trailer. More people than ever were excited to play FromSoftware's latest project. Like I said in the previous video, more people is great. Not only does it incentivize developers to keep making the games I love, but the Souls games have given me some of the best entertainment experiences in any medium, and more people experiencing that is awesome. Unfortunately, when Elden Ring was finally released, I was disappointed.
I know I will get some hate in the comments but hear me out. Elden Ring is not perfect. The game launched with many technical issues—issues still being worked out today—and some found themselves unable to play because they couldn't get past the loading screen or even connect to their servers. So while the hype leading up to Elden Ring was through the roof, once people started actually playing it… things weren't so great. I'm fortunate enough to play on a capable PC with a 3080. Yet the amount of stuttering and frame drops in certain areas made the game nigh unplayable upon release. I mentioned in a previous video that I don't like purchasing games on release just because so many games release in a broken state. But that FromSoftware titles were the exception because I hadn't been burnt, and I enjoyed being a part of that initial online community trying to discover everything the game had to offer. Well… consider me burnt. Now obviously, FromSoftware is not the first to release a game in a poor state. There is a larger conversation to be had about the gaming industry's repeated offenses that is out of the scope of this video. But that doesn't change the disappointment I had experienced upon its release. Thankfully, they were able to release patches, get things tidied up, and give an experience at least close to what the developers had intended. I didn't stay disappointed for too long.
