Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
Part 17 - Messmer and Draining The Flooded Church District
The time has finally come to face the big bad boss of the Shadow Keep, but first we have to get to him. We attempt to show off our new weapon and its ash of war, and end up getting ourselves way more pre-gamed than expected before reaching Messmer. When we finally do, we are destroyed several times in a row, but surprisingly manage to defeat him in only a handful of attempts. With some extra time to spare, we decide to go to the back entrance of the Shadow Keep we found a few episodes back, and explore here a bit more thoroughly. We hope across the roof tops, fighting simple enemies and the occasional fire knight while something big looms under the water. We finally get a look at it popping out of the water, and it seems to be an Ulcerated Tree Spirit. We find the lever that opens the gate to let the water out, in a very New Londo sort of way. We jump down and grab the site of grace, and will explore this newly de-flooded area, next time.
