So the thing I was the most afraid of finally happened... I ran out of fuel in the middle of space. What can you do? I had no friends online.

Luckily, this game has a dedicated community helping out people like me...Stranded in the middle of space. They're called the fuel rats.

I was impressed at how streamlined everything was, I went to there website https://fuelrats.com/ , punched in my CMDR name, and that I was playing on PC. It connected me to their IRC chat, told me what I needed to do (turn off non-essentials on my ship) and assigned me two commanders (shoutout to CMDR FYREN and NEVERETH).

They then made their way towards me, and fueled me up. Amazing service! So grateful to have them part of the community!
