Looking towards the future of Elite Dangerous, ship salvaging would be a great candidate for a 2019 update. The Beyond roadmap introduced a load of new game mechanics into Elite that could easily be adapted to expand upon the current implementation of salvaging. Here's a few ideas on how salvaging could be improved.

Keep in mind this is pure speculation on my part, I'm just sharing my ideas - but I'd also love to hear your ideas as well, please share them in the comments section.
