EQQ - Oculus Go
EQQ
Oculus Go
A beautiful story adventure about a mother and her son. Playing this game reminded me of Ico, in that you explore each location and protect something precious.
The graphical style is of a childrens novel with colourful landscapes and temples, the enemies like the aforementioned Ico are dark shadow creatures, albeit cuter that arise from the ground and must be kept away from the egg that your are protecting.
EQQ is blind and you have only minor control over him, pointing to a location and knocking on the ground, he will move to the sound. between the two of you, you will need too work together to solve puzzles and defend the egg from the shadow creatures.
The story that plays out is one of a mother that has lost and searching for her son, in their dreams they are trying to reunite, although it feels more of a coming of age story for the boy, learning of responsibility and fending for himself.
There are secrets to find in the way of scrolls hidden inside of barrels, objects that can be picked up and thrown at enemies, there is much depth to a game that at first seems very simple to play, becomes more involved as you guide EQQ on his travels but never overwhelming.
I found myself involved and very protective of both him and the egg and this is very much to do with the writing and the gameplay.
If you own an Oculus Go then this is a story that you will become easily engrossed in and another must own for me.
