Escape Kids is a bizarre foot-racing game developed in 2 & 4 player cabinets (in Japan and Asia) by Konami in 1991, and is fundamentally very similar to Leland Corporation's "Super Off Road" game and ports. In the game, five runners run three laps around exotic tracks around the world to see who is the best. Athletes can grab power-ups that appear along the tracks to help give them the edge as well as money which can be used between races to upgrade your abilities, which get worn down between stages.

The main difference is that players must button-mash to determine how fast their character moves and characters have resistance when making turns or jumps for added realism in this otherwise quirky and unrealistic game. You can go to bonus rounds if you place first in three consecutive races and you lose a credit (or seventy in-game bucks if you have it) if you lose to the reigning champion in black (who usually, though not always, places at least second). The game starts off easy enough but later becomes a game of preservation to earn money for jumps as stats like bumping other players become less important. This is a basic video of the game in action... I don't know what's up with the opposition getting flushed... not really sure why it's called Escape "Kids" either. Enjoy.
