A great Spider-Man game developed by Monkey Business and published by Sega in 1993, "The Amazing Spider-Man vs. the Kingpin" is a major revamp of the same game released two years ago for the Sega Genesis / Master System and a year ago for Game Gear. The game features improved audio/visuals, expanded gameplay (with new items and added exploratory elements, though it's lacking a few minor things from the Genesis game) and great cutscenes that play to the system's strengths and actually shows off some of what the Sega CD can do (though they almost seem like "Animation Magic" cutscenes, even though they are "Gray Matter").

In the game, our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is out to stop the plot of the Kingpin who, along with some of New York's greatest villains, has set a bomb that will eradicate the entire city in twenty four hours. Spider-Man can punch, kick, web, swing, and climb his way around levels effortlessly and different difficulties not only add to the challenge of the enemies, but alter the explorative elements of the level map (with "Nightmare" not revealing the whereabouts of bosses). The game is fairly easy, but is interesting and a great title for Spider-Man fans. This is a video showing some of the game in action, also showing one of the coolest game over scenes. The game's main theme, "Swing Time", is sung by Spencer Nilsen & Eric Martin. Enjoy.
