An original fighter made (currently) with the M.U.G.E.N engine, Rumble Pack (previously known as Cross Fighter) is a game with original characters done by Liero. The game is still a WIP (work-in-progress), but the idea is that each character will have three different styles of fighting based on the "Radix" system. You can fight more defensively with the "Hex" style, charge opponents aggressively with the "Decimal" style, or get complex and technical with the "Binary" style. The idea is that a roster of 12 characters is really 36 characters because they fight differently with different movesets depending on the style you select (so 20 = 60 or 28 = 84...etc.). So far, the style differences do add some variety, though I'm generally going to be a Binary or Decimal type guy. The idea of different styles makes me think of another indie fighter...Duel Toys 2 (I'm thinking of Solar Lemon and Star Joy modes), though the game is inspired partially by Melty Blood.

Generally speaking, I like the music, though I hope for some more energetic tunes in later builds (so far, the music feels more relaxed) and I dig the animations...and I can tolerate the voices. They aren't great, but they don't put me off entirely. While I can understand why some people don't like the voices, I think that too many people are putting an emphasis on the graphics; not everyone is trying to make badass anime or western style characters. You can't have Sol Badguys or Raziels in every single game. I like that the characters aren't super typical and it helps to bring out the point that indie games should be molded with one's own beliefs while not necessarily catering to any particular target audience. If the game does, that's cool, but if it doesn't, it shouldn't. At the end of the day, an indie developer should be able to look back on their work and be glad that they made the game the way they would've wanted to make it...not having to make an award winning soundtrack or do a complete graphical overhaul. All I care about is if the game is fun to an extent and it is functional (at least in regards to freeware).
