Eternal Evil | Full Game Walkthrough | No Commentary
We have another horror game to archive and this time it is a real special one! Eternal Evil has a pretty generic name but is really a very ambitious project. this game was made by pretty much one main developer and the result is fantastic. There are games out there made by a team of a dozen people that don't look and feel this ambitious. Eternal Evil is a return to a more old-school horror like Resident Evil with inventory management, ammunition being scarce and searching far and wide for particular shaped keys to progress. But what really sticks out are the beautiful graphics and unique spin on the genre since this time it's not zombies you are dealing with, but vampires. They still pretty much behave like zombies though.
It felt so awesome to explore these beautiful and detailed environments and every time this game blew my mind in a new way. Whether it was going to brand new environments like a foggy forest or giant city. But it also impresses with it's enemy variety since you will not just be facing vampires, but also giant scorpions, spiders, snakes, bats and more! It is really amazing to see what indie developers can do nowadays with more modern and beautiful looking engines. The only way you can really tell that not that much money or manpower is behind this project is the polish of the animation and cutscenes.
My only complaint with the game is that there are several boss sections against a bigger "Nemesis Type" vampire which get repeated so often that it got a bit boring and repetitive. But all in all I was very impressed with this game and hope to see more indie horror games in the future with the same ambition.
