Remorse: The List | Full Game Walkthrough | No Commentary
44Cry of Fear was an awesome horror game back during the golden days of YouTube gaming. It was a free game made on the Half Life 1 engine by a small team of dedicated Scandinavian developers. Over the years there have been a few homages and games inspired by that game including a mod called The Grey. Now that developer has come with a new game titled Remorse: The List. In many ways this feels like an homage and spiritual successor to Cry of Fear and I mean that in a good way. I would love more horror games that have such fluid and responsive gameplay combined with detailed European environments and original, varied enemy types.
Remorse puts a twist on that by providing an open world experience. The basic premise of the game is that you need to collect three particular items in order to beat the game and it is up to you on which direction to go and which item to get first.
There is definitely a logical way to progress where along the route you start with weaker weapons and weaker enemies, but nothing is stopping you from going a different route and immediately encountering tougher monsters or finding more powerful weapons.
I had an absolute blast with this game. The puzzles were great, the boss fights were original and memorable, and the real highlight of the game are the original enemies. Each enemy is so creepy and unique looking and often have a particular trope or gimmick that you need to exploit.
There are collectables, multiple endings and difficulties and in the end Remorse: The List is the complete package. The only thing I am afraid of is that the title of the game is a bit generic or confusing to where people will easily skip over it. If you love horror, then definitely give yourself a treat this Halloween by playing Remorse.
