Eternal Tombs Pre-Alpha Testing - Day 1
My first testing session of Eternal Tombs went really well. I’ve tried my best to cut out as much junk from this stream as possible. I took out all the pre-show, and all the mid-show when the servers had crashed and I was patching. The first roughly 20 minutes are heavily edited to remove filler and junk; the rest of the video, I wish I had the free time available to edit out a 5.5 hour livestream, but sadly I don’t. I chopped out as much of the dead silence as I can, but some of the off on a tangent conversations that I’m known for are still in the second half of the video.
From my first day I will say my areas of concern are:
Combat - It is very rough and awkward. You use LMB for a “basic attack” and then RMB both for your secondary attack and your skill activation. Pressing 1/2/3/4/5/6 on the keyboard doesn’t activate an attack, instead it puts it ready for you to use with RMB.
Starter Quests - I’ve already head from Dragnorox that the drop rate has been changed. I think I spent 45 minutes farming 5 pieces of rat meat. That’s just unacceptable, but its good to see the developer immediately jumped on that to tweak.
Distance of Leashing - Another thing the developer jumped on right away was the leash range. Mobs would follow you a great distance across the zone. They’ve reduced that by 30% which is a good starting point.
Class Identity - Although I was playing a Bonestitcher, I could have been Johnny with a stick. I didn’t feel a connection to my class through any sort of identity. Hopefully this changes so I "feel" more like a Bonestitcher and less like Johnny with a stick.
