Etrian Odyssey HD Boss 12: Manticore (Superboss)

Manticore only has 8500 Hp, In fact that's less than Iwaoropenelep. So why is this considered a superboss? Well once again the Wiki listed it as one. However, this fight is definitely a challenge because it has a passive Skill called En Garde that can reduce any damage recieved by half, this activates 70% of the time, on top of that he resists all status ailments and elemental attacks. He doesn't have any weaknesses to exploit at all unlike Alraune. The one saving grace is he doesn't resist binds, he's not weak to them but doesn't resist them so you can seal his skills if able and what are those skills? Terrifying.
He can use magic lullaby to put you to sleep, he can inflict the party with Terror (which my refresh wasn't high enough level to cure), he can inflict you with curse, he can just hit you hard sometimes, and worst of all is poison tail which does only about 100 damage to everyone... but has a ridiculously high poison proc chance and his poison is very high leveled. Every turn you're gonna be losing at least 150 HP if that isn't cured so you need to be ready. I had the Amber ring on Kat which gives her Ailment resistance so that might be worth considering. Killing this boss drops the poison hand, a glove that only gives 2 defense... but very high resistance to every status effect in the game so it's actually quite good.
Strangely there's no sidequest tied to this boss, you just have to find the tree on floor 18 that it scratched up (it's in A5 for those wondering) then go back to floor 16 to find the massive hole it created in the wall. This leads to a side area with some endgame level enemies, great for training if you're strong enough to stay alive.
