57Russia's a great place to make a load from trade. Just get a bunch of the Asian trade flowing towards you by controlling all of the nodes en route and make buckets of ducats by having your home node as the most lucrative in the world!
Oh great, here's the catch: do it as Novgorod; the oft-forgotten runt of the Russian region because everything is already railroaded for Muscovy to win, what with their superior rulers, 4 shock starting general and minor vassal swarm. Not to mention that Merchant Republics got slammed with the nerf bat allowing them to only have 20 state provinces, with more causing an RT hit. And of course, nobody around really likes Novgorod either.
Still prefer the 1399 start.
