Everspace - VR Gameplay HTC Vive
20There's a great game behind the so-so controls and very poor choice of font.
Not the biggest fan of non motion controller games so I don't have the best setup to play them. I get minimal tracking sitting at my desk so I tried to rig a mouse and keyboard setup. That didn't work out too well and things got much better after I embraced using a gamepad. I'd still much rather have a HOTAS for this game though.
Aside from the somewhat frustrating controls that were partly due to me fighting what the Steam page says the game supports... I found the text to be either in the way and/or very difficult to read. This is probably the biggest problem that would keep me from playing the rest of the game. The choice of font or whatever effect is causing the text to thin out and become difficult to read needs to change for VR players.
Everything else seems like it could be a lot of fun to explore and kit out your ship. Much more arcadey than Elite Dangerous but more substantial than Eve Valkyrie. Neither one of those is a bad thing. To be honest I wish Eve Valkyrie was a bit more like Everspace.
I see a lot of potential in Everspace to be a great roguelike space shooter. It was just fun to blow shit up and the feeling of progression gives you that 'one more run' syndrome.
