Every Extend Extra (Caravan Mode, Stage Omega, 5.5mil)
29Took a while to sort out my capture setup, but I've finally got something optimal for use with my HDMI-enabled 24in monitor and Intensity Pro capture card.
For a test, I've upped a high-quality version of a lacklustre attempt at Stage Omega of Every Extend Extra, in Caravan (score attack) Mode. This is a kind of limp attempt at scoring in this very challenging stage, but at least I managed to down the boss in this run.
There are many things that make this stage harder than the rest:
1) The stage background changes colour whenever you get a big chain of some description - a 100+ chain will cause the background to go mental, often obscuring hostile objects.
2) The medium-sized enemies appear from the sides of the screen as opposed to the background - this makes it harder to anticipate their final locations, making it harder to bag them all in one detonation. As a result, you have to leave a lot of enemies on-screen when they are due to appear, to assist you in killing them.
3) While extending is pretty easy in this stage with the help of the helix enemy pattern, it will get to the point where the only time you'll get an Extend is off the helix pattern, or with a particularly large amount of green point items. Conservation of lives is key here.
4) The boss goes through many forms, and takes an insane amount of damage. You'll need to start the fight with at least 10 lives in reserve, maybe more.
