Evolution of KVN Toucan (1998-2016)
The next vehicle to be covered in the evolution series is KVN Toucan. Formerly known as Purple Piledriver. A mid 90s british sports car before going to a slightly modernized early 2000s look in later games.
Purple Piledriver is one of the better racers in the game with great acceleration, high top speed and good handling can leave the opposition in the dust. At 375,000 credits, it is reasonably priced. However it struggles when it comes to wrecking the opposition, below average offense (on normal difficulty), lightweight at 1.1 tons and its very easy to wreck.
Same can be said for KVN Toucan in Max Damage, high top speed, backed up with great acceleration, it can be an awkward vehicle to drive at times and is prone to fishtailing (possibly too much weight is being distributed at the front) but you'll get used to its handling. It can be a solid choice for career as it is a fast vehicle for game modes such as Death Race, Checkpoint Stampede and Fox N'Hounds. Drawbacks for KVN Toucan is again the weak offense as its spikes do not seem to penetrate so Toucan will have a difficult time trying to steal without power-ups and the armor is abysmal.
In multiplayer, KVN Toucan is a mid to high-tier vehicle, despite performing similarly to Countslash and outrunning the opposition, it is outclassed by it. Although it is easier to drive than Countslash, however KVN Toucan does not accelerate as quickly and its armor is not any better and therefore is at greater risk of losing laps, points, time by getting wrecked.
I also want to say a massive thank you and credit goes to Razor, Toshiba3, Errol and Harmalarm for bringing together the Beta Mod for Carmageddon 2. I can showcase what Purple Piledriver looked like during the beta stage like the wheel spikes at the rear of the vehicle which is not present in the final release version.
