Expanding Egypt and its clone Vegas Rise are part of Konami's "Reels Up" family of slots where reels 3, 4, and 5 can expand if the special Arrow symbols land on preceding reels from left to right - obviously you need to land arrows or wilds on reels 1 and 2 to start this "Reel Expansion" feature. This is confusing at first and one thing to note is that the number of arrow symbols that land on a reel don't in any way influence how high the next reel expands as the height is randomly chosen. If the height chosen expands to its max, the special "Jackpot Feature" is triggered.
With the Jackpot Feature, depending on your bet level, between 1 and 5 bonus reels are activated where you can win credit awards or Progressives. The number activated corresponds to your actual bet level so in order to maximize this feature, you need to bet max. Another level to all of this is that your chosen denomination dictates whether or not this feature is active on reels 4 and 5 which only become activated if you chose 2-cent and 5-cent denominations respectively. In summary, in order to have access to all bonus reel sets and reel within those reel sets, you need to bet max at the top denomination of the machine, which on the one I played was nickel denomination with a $7.50 max bet!
The Free Games Feature is triggered by landing 3, 4, or 5 bonus symbols for 10, 15, or 20 free games respectively. During the bonus, your reel set expands to a 4x5 configuration giving you a better chance for the Reel Expansion feature, Enjoy!
