Extraneüm is a first person shooter styled like Wolfenstein 3D. But with the difference, that you also have outside areas, texturised floors and ceilings. But the charm of the blocky characters is similar. Instead of going into a castle, you go through tech based styled levels. At least for the first episode.

The enemies i encountered so far, where these goons of different variety and some squid like monsters. The humanoid enemies get more dangerous for each type. So where you can take down the green gun wielding goons with a few bullets from your MG, the masked MG goons already should be killed with the Shotgun. The I'll be back goon with the shotgun already takes two full shotgun blasts to go down. So you have to be tactical with your approach, or else you get crowded and killed pretty quickly. If you die, you either can restart the level, or use the money you found, to respawn at a respawn station. But you have first to find one and also you need to have enough cash on hand. So there are no Save Game and Load approach. You need to play carefully.

A thing to get used to is, that you can't look up and down. You don't need to either, since the game and the enemies are always on the same level as you are. This also means, that the game is fully playable with a Gamepad. The only downside here is, that the regular turn left and turn right setting is kind off low in this version. I think the double ammount makes it playable. The speed of your turns is still based on how far you go with your digital stick. So you can also do just small turns, if you just press the stick lightly.
