Friday practice at Monza is over and the fastest driver of the day was future Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton as he managed to hook the Mercedes up to be the fastest of the day, future Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli also got behind the wheel of the Mercedes but unfortunately he had an incident and crashed at the final corner but the young rookie was looking incredibly fast. It did mean though that George Russell had to miss out on some track time.
Ferrari are at their home race and Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will be eager to impress and right now the Ferrari is potentially looking strong, Mclaren are also once again looking strong and Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will be looking to make it another race win as the papaya team is continuing to close the gap to Red Bull and Max Verstappen.
Monza is one of the most historic race circuits on the calendar and at this race the drivers will be running the minimum levels of downforce as they are trying to maximise their straight line speed performance, this is where we see the highest speeds and highest braking zones of the year. The low downforce means mistakes and lockups are much easier and happen more often.
