F1 24 by Codemasters / Electronic Arts, 2024.

The third Formula 1 game under EA dropped the "Breaking Point" storyline, and focused on the cars and tracks. As such, it feels a bit "treading water", despite (supposedly) refined handling and more whizzy graphics (which are starting to affect the framerate on my 2015 era PC!).

Other changes included the dropping of supercars and the addition of anti-cheat, which has disappointed a fair few people (not because they're cheaters, but because it's somewhat low-level programming that might make your PC less secure).

But what about the game? Well it's more of the same really, I don't play these long enough to know if it's hugely improved or not, but it played okay for me. The car damage is still rather lacking and the lighting can be overly bright.

1. Race Start (Monza): 0:00 Here you can see there is a fair bit of shimmer on the driver's legs and the shadows can be a bit flickery (I am using ray tracing, but I'm on an older 2070 SUPER; Codemasters also just released an update to the game which may have changed things a bit).

2. Spray Effects (Silverstone): 0:37 Here the framerate suffers a bit, and the spray effects aren't much different to F1 23. The track reflections are a bit too much though, making everything very white.

3. Tunnel & View (Monaco): 0:55 The ray tracing shows more flashes of light on the car in the tunnel, and the DLSS is good here, with no noticeable ghosting.

4. Wet Track (Spa-Francorchamps): 1:13 Again the road is far too reflective, almost as though it's a lake! The newly remodelled Spa is nice to (finally) see though!

5. Pitstop (Interlagos): 1:35 There's very little difference in how the "immersive" pitstops work, compared to F1 23.

6. Huge Crash (Montreal): 1:59 The framerate skips a fair bit at the start, and then the Williams at the end does something VERY strange! :-D
