New Star GP (2024) - Every PC F1 Game
New Star GP by New Star Games Ltd / Five Aces Publishing Ltd, 2024.
A Virtua Racing styled, yet extremely authentic arcade racing game based around F1 from the 1980s to 2020s (I'm running 2020s cars here). Sprinkle in a career mode with plot lines and having to keep your team crew members happy by following their upgrades and you have a compelling game!
There are a lot of lovely little touches like the Red Arrows flying over the "Northampton" track... speaking of tracks, they're all based on real-life circuits, but reformatted in ways that keep them feeling accurate, yet challenging - don't expect the corners to be in the order you know, but do expect them to mostly be there, somewhere!
A nice (not shown here) electro soundtrack keeps things happy and fun to play. Overall this is a very good game!
What's less known is: there used to be another game (from same company) called New Star GP, but it was a top-down arcade racer instead, you can read about it (and still download it) via archive.org: https://web.archive.org/web/201603121...
1. Race Start (Monza): 0:00 the Naples track is very obviously based on Monza, yet tweaked about enough to keep you on your toes!
2. Spray Effects (Silverstone): 0:23 the rain is heavy at the Northampton track, but the Red Arrows are still flying overhead!
3. Tunnel & View (Monaco): 0:39 the Côte d'Azur track will really catch you out - the tunnel has been cut-and-pasted to be near the end of the track (as has the casino!)
4. Wet Track (Spa-Francorchamps): 1:04 the Brussels track has a large number of changes to Spa - Eau Rouge/Raidillon are very different, and lead directly into Les Combes, with no Kemmel straight!
5. Pitstop (Interlagos): 1:30 the Brasilia track is relatively close to Interlagos, with a few differences. Here's how pit stops work though, you will get damage that needs repairing, but can't totally wreck your car.
6. Huge Crash (Montreal): 1:52 this is called Quebec but it's a close version of Montreal. As you can see, crashes can cause flips (in an earlier race I flipped spectacularly once!). I like how your rivals show their feelings through emojis!
