The steering wheel of an F1 car is more than just a steering mechanism. It also has over 20 buttons and knobs that regulate everything from the fuel mixture and engine mapping of the car to the transmission and brake balance.

Formula One cars can produce so much downforce that they can drive upside down on a ceiling. This is due to the aerodynamic design of the car, which generates a substantial amount of negative pressure, or downforce, to keep the car glued to the track.

During a race, an F1 car may carry a maximum of 110kg of fuel. This is to motivate teams to create more efficient cars, and it means that fuel strategy is critical to the outcome of the race.

Due to the high G-forces and tremendous heat inside the car, an F1 driver can lose up to 3kg of weight during a race. To address this, drivers eat a specially prepared drink throughout the race that includes electrolytes to keep them hydrated.

F1 cars are very expensive to manufacture and maintain, with some estimates estimating the cost of a single car at more than $10 million. This is due in part to the use of high-tech materials such as car carbon fiber, titanium, and kevlar, as well as the significant research and development necessary to make the car as fast and efficient as possible.
