Thanks for checking out another video here on G4G. Today we're looking at a fairly new, cross platform game called Shadowgun:Deadzone. When it's said this game is cross platform, they truly mean it. It is available via Facebook, Android and iOS, and also direct downloads for PCs and Macs. Even though one might think the pure PC/Mac download would be the best, I often seen FB users doing equally as well as folks using straight downloads.

The game is quite a lot of fun but does seem to have a heavy push to spend a little money on it. In all arenas, the game is free to play. You can drop money for gold to get some better skins and the like but you can also earn it through the casino slots. The game has a mild ramp up as features unlock as you progress through the early levels. Leveling up is not too hard and the rewards like access to other guns make it satisfying. Weapons include SMGs, assault rifles, plasma rifles, snipers, rocket launchers and more. You can also unlock secondary items like turrets and different grenades. The game keeps keybindings fairly simple but at least due to the browser/FB version, some mouse binds won't work. In BLR one of my thumb buttons is reload which I tried to do here but it still treats it like the browser's "back" button.

One of the biggest complaints I have about the game is the high population of those....south of the border. Chat is often completely dominated by Spanish and HUEHUEgese more than anything. Aside from chat which is easily avoided since it doesn't come into play during maps, you have to deal with the lag. Often times somebody named something like Guillermo DeJAJAJAJA will be seen moonwalking around, being stuck on a wall when they actually aren't, or appear to take massive damage and live only to 2 shot you to death. It's a pattern you see with almost any FPS and it does infest this game too. It actually does feel like you are playing a game that is more popular in South America than NA.

Aside from the lagginess of the BRs and the like, the game is very fun to play. Maps are about 5 minutes long so it's a good game to play to get a quick FPS fix. It has a daily login component that you'd want to keep up with to get your coins. SG:DZ adds a twist by granting you another daily award if you actually do more than just login/logout for the daily bonus. It's a fun game that the developers actually seemed to nail the cross-platform nature of quite well despite the fact that I think the FB/PC/Mac users should have a logical advantage of over the touchscreen users.
