Here is another Factorio 0.18 Megabase episode for you, and quite a bit has changed. Factorio has had a few updates, and we now have new icons for most items and some new sounds as well!

Additionally, our artillery range research is finishing, so this means we will be pushing the biters back a bit. However, this also means that we we be attacked by the biters whose bases we destroy.

I notice that the 250 science per minute factory really isn't producing 250 science per minute. Instead, it is closer to half that. Looking at the research available, I notice that there are two lab speed increase researches that we have not completed, so I queue them up. With them researched, with hit a bit over 250 science per minute before the end of the episode.

With all the attacks in the previous episode, and the ones in this episode, I decide that our current defenses are enough. Between episodes, I spent some time in the map editor designing a much more defensible wall that also automatically self repairs, all while using less electricity that our current defenses.

Based upon a post I saw on reddir ( https://www.reddit.com/r/factorio/comments/goudvn/turning_the_artillery_on_testing_the_wall_a_bit/ ), I design my own wall section with the following features: It's tileable. All lasers are unpowered normally, and only powered when there is an attack. It has a series of flamethrower turrets to support the lasers. It is roboport lined, so it can self repair. The wall itself causes biters to take a longer path to reach the turrets, to the lasers have more time to attack before being attacked themselves. It has a blueprint with a supply station, so it can build itself once the supply station is build and can repair itself. I also designed a factory to build all the materials to build the wall.

Most of the episode is repairing the current defenses enough so that we have time to build the new wall factory. Once we have the defenses replenished, we clear out an area to build the new factory. We begin building the factory at the end of the episode, and between episodes, I'll finish it's construction and set up the mines it needs to that we can start the factory up at the beginning of the next episode and begin putting the new wall in place.
