Factorio Deathworld: for 4h 3m then get trashed
A very nice Factorio Deathworld speedrun map, squandered.
Fairly peaceful for a Deathworld, until it wasn't. Many nests didn't spawn, water nicely positioned. Little filler ore patches were great but made routing more complicated to re-sequence. That's probably still my mid-game weakness, especially while also tracking attacks. Mixed build went up with undergrounds from outposted iron, then biters chewed everything apart. I don't think I can afford to stop making turrets or ammo. If the plan still includes bullet damage 3 and turret micro then I should lean on that.
In retrospect, the defensive play would have been to run the oil pipe to a flamethrower bunker at the water edge, wasn't far, would hold forever. The largest mistake (besides not defending on a Deathworld) was probably either committing too much steel to mixed build furnaces which should have been chemplants, or somehow not noticing that most of the refineries were still on basic oil processing. (Even as I wondered why I was short on light oil, though also producing the majority of RF. Maybe it would have been fine, maybe powergrid would eventually run dry too?)
Spiciest combat (that isn't trashing my base) is perhaps 1:35:40, clearing the nests by the oil with pre-oil tech. The biters didn't even finish off a turret then, maybe that's why they were so angry at my mixed build ... and smelting ... and powergrid ... and iron filler. So in hindsight not really that peaceful after all.
