The roboports get jobs mostly because they're there, but it'd probably have been faster to reorganise the smelting myself. It shuts down the base, but outposts are still boxing ore & tanking crude so whatever. Now I have expansion capacity for when I connect pirate outposts, which seemingly have achieved more compact & effective mining than the electro-metallurgist could. Those are tricks we'll have to figure out soon too.
The region is pretty safe but there's some important research to get before big biters appear. (Maybe the mission has a high nest kill evo coefficient?) There's a good perimeter for eventual flamethrowers, which might end up the Smuggler's most important contribution.
