The Initial Map Scan mod scans an area the size of the starting area you selected when you enter into a new game. This is very handy because it stops you from having to manually walk around and explore the area around you for resources/enemies. You can also set the size to whatever you want in the config files.
This spotlight is for version 0.1.2 of the mod that works with Factorio 0.12.5+.
