Fae Tactics is similar to Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced. From the way the map looks and the portraits. You also got your turn based combat,where the side (front,side and back) does matter in hitrate and damage. But this is where the similarity ends. Since in the combat there are a bit more things to take care of. First of the height difference does increase the damage output by 25% each step which is a lot. Standing in your corresponding element gives the character also a buff. You don't have a skill or item menu where you choose what you do, this is performed by your actions. So if you steer your character to a enemy and click on it, you will attack it. If you go to a friendly unit and click on it you give it a buff, the buf also varies by the character which is giving away the buff. If you go to a position and just wait, you'll also trigger a skill your character got and which is also different from the character who is waiting. If you move your character next to a enemy but don't attack, and another character attacks the enemy where your first character stands, then this one will automatically attack too. This is usefull for 2 reasons. First a attacked enemy will turn in the direction it did get attacked from. So if both of your units stand on the side, then the first attack will be from the side and the second attack from behind. And the second reason this is useful is, that the waiting unit can attack multiple times this way. So with 3 characters it is possible to attack 4 times instead of 3 times.
