Fallout 3 Playthrough (No Commentary) part 14: Trouble at the homefront
0This is a casual playthrough of Fallout 3, Karma decisions will be made according to what I feel is right.
After the Enclave attack on the water purifier, a radio message will play near vault 101 in which Amata will ask for your help.
If you take too long or simply ignore the message, it will eventually stop and you cannot start the quest any more, so if you want to finish it then you better do it sooner than later.
The whole deal is that the residents are split between two factions, the overseer wants to keep the vault closed as usual to keep the dangers of the wasteland away while Amata and her group of rebels wants to open the vault in order to trade and interact with the people of the wasteland.
You actually have a few options to solve this, you could either convince one side that the other is right, if you cannot achieve the speech check then there is information that you can use to convince them.
You can also kill the leader or either side to solve the conflict but needless to say neither side will not be particularly happy with it,
However if you kill the overseer during the escape back at the beginning of the game, he is replaced by another guy who is even more unreasonable and will attack you if you don’t convince the rebels he’s right.
Regardless of whose side you choose, you are forced to leave the vault forever and can never come back for the duration of the game.
Finally, Butch mentions that there is the option to force everybody to leave the vault through sabotage, this will destroy the vault and you will find many of the residents killed out in the wasteland.
In terms of Karma, helping one side without violence is considered good, killing Amata is considered evil (not sure about the overseer) and destroying the vault is also considered evil.
On this part, we visit home and find out half the people hate us for something we are not responsible for and the other half kicks us out after we help them.
