Once the signal interceptor has been built, Sturges will ask the Sole Survivor to insert a network scanner holotape inside the Institute's computer network to infiltrate it and download any available information. If Outside the Wire has already been completed, the holotape will be given by Proctor Ingram aboard the Prydwen, or Boston Airport if From Within has also been completed.
Once the Sole Survivor is teleported into the Institute, they should go forward until they reach a terminal. It will be facing the opposite way of the direction they came in through. Access the terminal and insert the network scanner holotape. Pick the option to scan the network, and after the scan is complete, the holotape should automatically return to the player's inventory upon leaving the terminal. Now, all that's left is to return to Sturges back in Sanctuary Hills. Returning to Sanctuary Hills before scanning the network at the Institute will not be an option.
