Additional info:
- This is one of my most favorite quests in any of the Fallout games. It's also pretty hard to trigger it, as you need to be near the end of the game (right before the Battle of Hoover Dam), earn multiple 'friend points' and be of good standard with Arcade Gannon in order for him to initiate the quest.
- Telling Arcade to assist The Followers and not join the Remnants during the Battle of Hoover Dam, results in him giving the Courier his unique armor and get him the best ending possible. If he does join the Enclave during the final battle, he, like all other Remnants, will be and pursued by bounty hunters, NCR rangers and the Brotherhood of Steel, being held accountable for the Enclave's crimes against humanity.
- If you continues to talk to Johnson about the Enclave, he will have a dialogue option about a drill sergeant who once caught a soldier without his uniform. This is a reference to Fallout 2 when the Chosen One travels to Navarro and talks to the drill sergeant there without wearing advanced power armor, Dornan will yell at him for being out of uniform.
- This is one of the three quests where you may receive Power Armor Training (the others being Eyesight to the Blind or Tend to Your Business, both of which are the final phases of the Brotherhood of Steel questline).
- Even though the Brotherhood of Steel has been a hated enemy of the Enclave for years, they will not attack each other if you were to have peacefully resolved the conflict between the Brotherhood and the NCR.
- If sided with Caesar's Legion, the Gannon family Tesla armor is unobtainable due to Arcade's newfound disdain of you for siding with the Legion.
- The name of the quest is from the Scottish poem and song "Auld Lang Syne", traditionally sung on New Year's Eve in many countries.

Summary:
The story has taken some parts from the Fallout and Fallout 2 stories, and is for the most part unrelated to its predecessor, Fallout 3.
Fallout: New Vegas takes place in 2281, four years after the events of Fallout 3, thirty-nine years after Fallout 2, and one-hundred-twenty years after Fallout. The New California Republic plays a major part in the game's story, being in a three-way struggle amongst the Caesar's Legion slavers, and the mysterious Mr. House.
