This is a game from SAGE (Sonic Amateur Games Expo).
This game, as the name suggests is a HD remaster of Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
This game is developed by a group known as Team S2HD, consisting of (as of demo 2) Vincenzo Mastrotrosato, Ryan Hathaway, Winterhell, Ted John, Greentwip, Lake Ishikawa, SrBilyon, Ricky Earl, Mike Harvey, Leonardo Cirius, Vincent, Lapper, Corral Summer, Cristian, Jesùs Campus, Warau, Toni Leys, Andrew Mansour, and Alex Magnett.
This demo has quite a lot of content we can play trough 3 full zones: Emerald Hill Zone, after which we go through Chemical Plant Zone, and after that zone we skip a couple of zones from Sonic 2 and we go to Hill Top Zone.
This game has a interesting past.
This game began with a simple question of "What would Sonic the Hedgehog 2 look like in high-definition?"
The Sonic Retro community had always taken a keen interest in all things related to Sonic's classical era. On December 6th 2007, a member of this community called "Athelstone" found Billy's image and excitedly posted it in the General discussion forums, while asking the very same question - what would it be like? The thread was soon moved to the "Creative Works" section of the forum.
Three months later, on March 8th 2008, a member of Sonic Retro called "Vangar" created a discussion thread asking for a game engine he could use to start work on such a project; soon after, interest in the thread exploded. Many members of the community quickly began to post concept images of what the game ought to look like. In the beginning, fans would merely apply graphical filters to the original low-resolution graphics. A member called "Yarharhar" then posted an image of a completely remastered Sonic, along with a method describing how he had created it.
A tech-demo of S2HD was released on September 15th 2008.
But sometime after the game went dark to the public this was a time in which we didn't know if this game was still a thing or not.
But in December of 2010 the website of the game added a countdown which ended on January 11 of 2011 when a trailer of the game went live.
The first demo released of this game was released on March 27th 2012, this was an alpha which included Emerald Hill and a very early version of Hill Top (which I think is why Hill Top Zone is in this demo) and this Demo was made by an almost completely different team from the team that made demo 2.0 and was made by Jared Kasl, Tom Fry, Mike Hillard, Tee Lopes, Devin Reeves, Scubasteve, Jessica Jeansoulin, Andrew Dever, and Jorge Miguel Desa. You might recognize some names here from a official Sonic Game released in 2017, Sonic Mania some people of the S2HD team went on to make Pagoda West Games.

I recorded this game with OBS but kept the fps thing from fraps in there to show that this game has quite the shaky frame rate
