Feels like every area but the east went by in a flash, even with forcing myself to change weapons routinely to avoid boredom. All that's left is the Monteros' missions and the Libertad finale. Unless some additional sidequests show up. I have come to the conclusion fire based weapons are either completely worthless and have no place in the game or only function on the lowest difficulty mode thanks to the shift toward pseudo-RPG enemy health and weapon damage they adapted with New Dawn. It's miserable how wasted any ammo type other than armor piercing (sniper headshots only) and soft-target (everything else) are on anything. Fire can barely set foliage on fire, gas does so little you may as well just use the dedicated sprayer or gadgets, and explosives of any type are woefully ineffective.
Both runs of this game, I've had fun in El Este but gotten pretty bored with the other areas. They just aren't as fun, and even with forcibly switching weapons up all the time there's no reason, even with the pitiful ammo capacity limits, not to just use the overclocked M16 in burst fire mode or that kind of sort of Galil-like 4* one, the overclocked MP5, an LMG, and any mag-fed pistol. Story mode may make weapon variety more feasible, but the game's already so easy on even this new Guerilla difficulty that I rarely found a death that I felt deserved - discounting the funny ones like smacking into a tree.
What I hope for in a theoretical Far Cry 7 is a return to 2-4. All the fire, environmental damage, and self-surgery mechanics of 2, the great protagonist (the arc of going from california douchebag to seasoned warrior and all that), Vaas (but not Vaas directly, the quality will plummet if you're just reusing the exact same character), and music of 3, and just about everything but the boring protagonist that extremely rarely has any actual character of 4. Basically taking 4 as a base, adding the best parts of 3 and 2 to it. Maybe distance away from all this rebellion against major powers thing, it's a little played out, shift more toward getting stranded in the middle of a war zone and having to find a way to survive and escape or pick up merc work.
