Fatal Fury 2, 1992 SNK (20 From '92 Part 2)
10AWESOME follow up to Fatal Fury, this NEO GEO game soups up the graphics, music, sound effects.. EVERYTHING is a positive change in this from the original. Now a total of 8 fighters are available, and each has a set of 4 or so special moves.. this time around, DESPERATION MOVES are added to the fighting genre! These can be pulled off when your energy is very low (flashes), and help to turn the tide in the fight. You can also control the move to the background plane to face your opponent across the way (like the plane-fighting aspect in the first game). You can also use all 4 buttons: 2 for punch (weak and strong), and 2 for kick (weak and strong). Combining the weak ones allow the plane jump, and combining the strong ones can send your opponent to the background plane with a strong attack. The fighters are Terry, his brother Andy, and their friend Joe from the first game, and then female ninja Mai (with a boob jiggle in her winning pose!) as Andy's love interest, old judo master Jubei, fat tai-chi expert Cheng, Taekwondo champ Kim, and Raiden from the first game, now known as Big Bear! Bonus stages are an improvement (break all stone/brick pillars before time's up), but the biggest improvement IMHO is the graphics, music and sound effects. Quite possibly the best of the NEO GEO to this point (1992). The final opponents after beating the others and your doppelganger are stick fighter Billy Kane (from the first game, now using a 3-sectional staff), boxer Axel Hawk, bullfighter Laurence Blood, and Geese Howard's half-brother, giant noble German Wolfgang Krauser! Watch out for his fireballs, tomahawk kick (takes out air attacks), and his Kaiser Wave (a desperation-type move he can do anytime). What a dramatic improvement over Fatal Fury 1, and Fatal Fury wasn't too bad for its time!
