FCEUX 2.2.3 (2018) Setup Tutorial & Best Configuration | Play NES Games on PC
Quick note: I don't know why the timeline bar is off. It was working with the correct times in the editor. I'll try to make sure it doesn't happen again.
This tutorial & guide shows step-by-step instructions for getting the FCEUX 2.2.3 set up along with the controller, configuration toward the end of the video, and using Super Mario Bros. as the game of example.
Compatible file extensions (for the game) include: .nes, .fds, .fig, .mgd, .sfc, .smc, .swc. Some emulators may read .7z and .zip as well.

All links are near the top or bottom of the description.
All software mentioned includes – 7-zip, AMD/Nvidia/Intel Graphics Drivers, C++, DirectX, Game file (in formats of .nes .fds .fig .mgd .sfc .smc .swc).
You can Google the download for a gamefile (or other appropriate format) if you choose the illegal route.
_____________________________Instructions – Install & Run FCEUX________________________________
A – Click the link for "NES Emulator (FCEUX)" near the top of the description. Your download should start soon.
B – Once your download's finished, go to your downloads folder and unzip the file (tutorial for 7-zip also near the top of the description).
C – Open the emulator by double-clicking on the application.
D – If you want to further configure controls for a custom keyboard layout or a gampad, go to "Config", and click "Input". Now click "Configure" near Port 1. From here you can change controls by selecting a button and pressing the button or key you want to bind it to. Press "Close" whenever you're finished.
E – To open the game you want to play, go to File - Open Rom..., select the game you want to play and press "Open". Your game should've started.
_________________________________Instructions – Configuration____________________________________
Basic Graphics Configuration
A – To enter and exit full screen, use ALT+Enter during a game.
B – If you want a larger sized window- Go to Config - Video... - and increase the "Size Multiplier" under Window Settings to a higher value on both X and Y. I use 2 for each in the video.
C – For a higher resolution- Go to Config - Video... - and under "Full Screen Settings" type in your display's native resolution for "Mode". Mine was set to its default so you may not need to do this.
D – (While still in Video Configuration) You can try various "Special Filter" options if you want to try out better graphics. It's largley a matter of personal taste however.
E – To have no side bars (causes stretching), uncheck "Best Fit" (still under Video Configuration).
F - If you come across any lag or slowdown, I recommend (in Config - Video) going to DirectDraw and selecting "Hardware acceleration" for fullscreen or windowed, whichever you use.
