Chapter 8 is DimitriLTC'd in 7 turns (40 total). Challenge playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbSv8zSDR9c27TVu2iNCqBUxOkP5Ofdzq

A map that becomes somewhat different because of the rout objective imposed by the challenge. We still end up facing some of the same enemies in a similar way to a normal run, again facing the choice of either shaving off a turn but foregoing the first elysian whip (Cormag later bringing the second one with him) or taking the extra turn but making Vanessa that much stronger. On this run, the whip is that much more relevant seeing how Cormag can actually be recruited without a hefty turn count penalty and would appreciate using the same movement stat as your Paladins.

What's different, I suppose, is that it's Ephraim's squad that ends up retrieving the whip on the 7th turn. A 5 turn is normally possible with Paladin Franz and very strict demands in terms of stats (Seth needs to be given the energy ring from the last chapter for instance) for the purposes of wall-breaking. Of course, so many enemies, including distant mages, longbow archers and the reinforcement cavs down south are ignored when executing the strategy, so a full rout would take a good while longer even with an 8 mov Franz.

Franz being still a cavalier at the start of the chapter means he gets to benefit from several more opportunities to level up, enjoying accelerated pre-chapter 9 exp gain. He almost catches up with Seth in pure offensive stats this way. Training Vanessa and Artur is another objective of ours. Vanessa hasn't grown very much strength just yet due to the sheer scarcity of her level-ups, whilst her lack of hp/def level-ups means she's easy prey for the opposition and needs to dodge attacks to survive. Artur is in a similar situation, dodging foes' blows whenever he needs to engage more than one per enemy phase. At the end of the map, Vanessa is two levels short of promotion, Artur only one. Franz, however, gets to lv. 11, ready to promote any time for chapter 9, which is going to be a loooong chapter for sure.

Ephraim continues being the offensive centre of his group, with way superior offence to Forde and Kyle's. Their lack of javelins, broken by Orson in 5x, means Ephraim will have to initiate on any enemies capable of attacking at 2-range on enemy phase. Ephraim is notable for having offensive stats expected of a promoted unit, albeit with unpromoted 5 move. Kyle simply is never going to catch up to Seth and Franz at this stage, making use of whatever little experience he's able to get in order to be an additional 8 move unit with acceptable combat stats later.

With Ephraim being ferried northwards, Ross ends up taking on the reinforcement cavs, having helped out here and there prior to that. He has capped his strength stat as a pirate, waiting patiently to accumulate enough experience for a Berserker promotion, that does become possible in the next chapter. He now has the highest strength stat in the army.

I had to think a fair bit whether the whip was worth the turn spent retrieving it. As you have noticed, Seth doesn't do a whole lot on the later turns, and neither he nor Franz are necessary to open the chest. I thought that Vanessa was important as a competent flier, both early on and in the endgame, even though I don't expect her to be doing the things she does in more limited runs, like my old Girls Only challenge, or TAS-like LTCs of the game.
